Elevations: Silver Maple #3
Materials: Urban Rescued Silver Maple, Walnut and Sycamore and Bio-resin.
Silver maple and walnut make the body of this piece. The resin work is done through a series of layers and varying techniques to catch light from different angles, changing as light plays through the depths, with the goal of imbuing the qualities of water in nature.
Carrying the idea of layering from the resin into the wood, this piece varies elevation and tone of the natural edged wood in the piece and continues with the hand made double frame of sycamore inside of walnut.
Meaning exists in the layers we have to look beyond to see. Elevations is a study of varying perspective and shifting the axis, while continuing the conversation of balance that is a central theme throughout my body of work.
