Free Standing Panel Series:

These pieces really forced me to think outside the box of my own approach. My goal was to have both sides of the work unique, original and distinct from each other while at the same time being the same piece. To achieve this I had to adapt my approach.

Laying creates the foundation for the magic to happen in my work. Normally when I build a piece, I’ll build layers from the bottom up. This way I can be conscious and intentional about how I’m using color for an intended purpose. But this approach only makes for one good side.

For these pieces, I developed “an inside out” approach intentionally pouring from the outside in on one side and then, from the inside out on the other. That sounds confusing, but I don’t know how better to explain it.
